The symposium was successful delivered to 100 attendees. Keynote speakers included Dr Brian Sullivan, Megan Norris, Tarang Chawla and Sono-Leon. On a post event survey, 100% of participants were satisfied with the event and 80% of participants indicated a greater understanding of risk assessments, information sharing strategies, safety planning, integration and critical reflection on current practice and processes indicating development of additional skills to enhance DFV practice and responses to improve identifying, responding to and managing risk and safety. 90% of participants also called for the symposium to be made an annual event with suggested topics of coercive control, non-fatal strangulation, and trauma informed workshops.
A further good news story to from event was that one of the guest speakers- Megan Norris- was inspired to return to the area and meet with the local First Nations community to capture and write their stories into a book so their voices can be heard. Dr Brian O’Sullivan further articulated that the symposium was one of the best he has been too and expressed interest to return.
