Welcome to the Social Shift Institute!
At the Social Shift Institute, we’re committed to driving meaningful, community-led change through research, innovation, and practical development. As the research and community development arm of HBNC, our focus is on empowering local communities by providing the tools, strategies, and support they need to address some of the most pressing social challenges.
In partnership with the Department of Social Services, we proudly serve as a designated Brokerage Organisation for the Community-led Support Fund (CLSF). Through this initiative, we assist communities in securing funding for projects that make a real difference in areas such as mental health, family support, job readiness, and employment.
But our work doesn’t stop there. Through our Social Shifters workshops and activities, we’re helping local communities build capacity and gain the skills necessary to solve real-world problems. These initiatives are designed to equip individuals with the latest, evidence-backed strategies to create positive change.
We are constantly evolving, collecting data, and conducting research to stay ahead of the curve. Our State of Reports and other publications allow us to track the changing needs of communities and highlight key opportunities for collective action and impact.
And there’s more to come! We’re currently developing the Social Vault—a state-of-the-art resource library full of innovative programs and toolkits that can be tailored to suit any community. This cutting-edge platform will provide you with everything you need to accelerate your community’s growth and success.
