Social Issue/Problem

A series of workshops for youth, parents and educators around sexual exploitation and recognising and responding to signs of child sexual abuse.

Solution

Delivery of a series of 12 workshops focusing on child sexual abuse (recognising, responding and recovering for parents and educators), focusing on selling self (realities of industries such as Only Fans for parents and educators), and child sexploitation and sextortion (for young people, parents and educators). Workshops were delivered from a motivational and lived experience perspective and aimed to reduce stigma and taboos relating to child sexual abuse and child exploitation to encourage greater conversation.

Outcome

10 workshops were delivered to 49 attendees with 97% experiencing an increase in knowledge and awareness around child sexual abuse and 100% knowing post attendance what to do if they come across a young person at risk. 100% of attendees also reported an increase in knowledge around sexploitation with 100% knowing post attendance how to make an informed decision or help a young person make an informed decision when engaging with platforms such as Only Fans. A further 14 people were supported individually with referrals
