Solution
The creation of easily accessible safe spaces in the Bundaberg community where community members can get support, provision of suicide prevention training and pop up events to raise awareness around mental health and supports available.
Outcome
3 safe spaces were developed- at Oodies Café, Ken’s Kepnock Butchery, and World Gym Bundaberg. 75% gave positive feedback around these safe spaces. 2 suicide prevention workshops were delivered with 24 participants from wider community trained. 2 domestic violence workshops were also delivered with 16 participants from wider community completing. 42 community pop-up events to raise mental health awareness were also held reaching 689 people. Now the safe spaces are up and running and available to Bundaberg community on a permanent basis.
